Compatibility in Size and Taper Angle of Auxiliary Gutta-Percha Points Used With Corresponding Spreaders

Abstract

The diameter and taper angle of different sizes of several commercially available spreaders were compared with the corresoponding sizes of auxiliary gutta-percha points under the microscope using an imaging analytic system. The standardized
spreaders
appeared not to be compatible with auxiliary gutta percha points, while the nonstandardized spreaders were mostly compatible. The results strongly indicates that there is a need for standardization of the spreaders and auxiliary gutta-percha
points
avaliable in Korea.
